'Fresh from WHK North’ presents comedy show at Hilton Kalabar on 1 April
Windhoek-based performer Munda-Nkulu I Kanyonga, popularly known as 'Fresh from WHK North', is set to headline a one-man stand-up comedy show titled “Who is fooling who?” on 1 April at the Hilton Kalabar.
The show, scheduled to run from 19:30 to 21:00, promises an engaging mix of humour, storytelling and social commentary, drawing from everyday Namibian experiences.
Kanyonga, a multi-disciplinary artist, is known for blending stand-up comedy with other art forms such as dance, poetry and music, creating what he describes as an “edutaining” experience for audiences.
His performances are characterised by high energy and an ability to keep audiences captivated through a fusion of humour and storytelling.
Fresh perspectives
Born in Lund, Sweden, and raised in Windhoek, particularly Windhoek North, Kanyonga has built a reputation as a versatile live performer with a strong stage presence. Beyond comedy, he is also recognised as a public speaker, master of ceremonies and creative storyteller.
Over the years, he has performed at several notable venues across the country, including the Warehouse Theatre, the Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre, the National Theatre of Namibia spaces, the Katutura Community Arts Centre and the Sam Nujoma Stadium. Notably, he was among the first artists to perform at the Sam Nujoma Stadium when it opened in 2005.
Kanyonga is also a co-founder of the Free Your Mind Comedy movement, which has contributed to the growth of stand-up comedy platforms in Namibia. He previously hosted the 'Kleiner Keiler Open Mic' at the Warehouse Theatre, helping nurture emerging local talent.
Academically, he holds a national diploma in new media arts from the College of the Arts and is registered as a multi-disciplinary artist with the National Arts Council of Namibia.
Organisers say the upcoming show reflects a growing appetite for live local entertainment and aims to provide a platform for homegrown talent to connect with audiences.
Early bird tickets are priced at N$100, with door prices not fixed yet.
