This weekend, the National Theatre of Namibia (NTN) will echo with laughter as some of the continent’s top comedic talent are in Windhoek for The Hoeked Comedy All Stars, a two-night comedy extravaganza taking place on 11 and 12 July.

Presented by L.A. Entertainment and supported by Simonis Storm and Arysteq Asset Management, The Hoeked Comedy All Stars promises a high-octane celebration of humour, culture and cross-border creative excellence.

Leading the bill is internationally acclaimed South African comedian Loyiso Gola, a two-time Emmy nominee and Netflix star known for his cutting satire and global reach. Joining him is the effortlessly deadpan Dillan Oliphant, a fan favourite who broke out on Trevor Noah’s Nationwild Tour. Also taking the stage is Rob Van Vuuren, the wildly versatile comic, actor and crowd-puller with a cult following in southern Africa. Representing Namibia is the fierce and funny Waylene Beukes, whose rising star continues to illuminate the local scene with bold, relatable storytelling.

Growing talent

But the laughter starts even before the curtains rise.

As part of the inaugural weekend celebrations, the festival hosted a special comedy industry workshop on Thursday, 10 July, also at the National Theatre.

The session was led by Kagiso Lediga, an internationally revered comedian, actor and director, and Takunda Bimha, veteran comedy promoter and founder of the Johannesburg International Comedy Festival.

This closed-door engagement with emerging Namibian comedians and key industry stakeholders was aimed at exploring pathways for talent development, market growth and cross-border collaboration in the comedy sector.

“With The Hoeked Comedy All Stars, we’re building more than a show; we're creating a platform that nurtures talent, grows the industry and contributes to the broader cultural and creative economy in Namibia,” said Andriette (AndyH) Heuer of L.A Entertainment.

With international headliners, regional representation and deep industry engagement, The Hoeked Comedy All Stars is shaping up to be not just a weekend of world-class comedy, but a pivotal moment in the evolution of Namibian stand-up.

Tickets are available at Webtickets and Pick n Pay outlets nationwide with showtime set at 19:00.
