City clarifies Jazz festival payments
NEWS IN SHORT
The City of Windhoek has confirmed that a total of N$726 000 was paid to all artists performing at the 2025 Windhoek Jazz Festival, dismissing claims that South African artist Kelly Khumalo alone received N$650 000.
City spokesperson Lydia Shifa this weekend said: “Due to contractual obligations, the exact amount cannot be disclosed. However, as indicated in the clarification provided, the figure of N$650 000 is incorrect.” The City emphasised the event is self-funded, supports local talent, and boosts Windhoek’s creative economy.
