Andrew Ingo reinvents himself as music artist 'Chaquee Pleez'
Celeb photographer’s musical awakening
Respected photographer Andrew Ingo is making a bold move into music with a fresh, boundary-pushing sound.
The Namibian creative landscape is on the cusp of an exciting new chapter as celebrity photographer Andrew Ingo makes a striking transition into music, unveiling his artistic alter ego ChaQee Pleez.
For years, Ingo has been a respected figure behind the camera, capturing some of Namibia’s most iconic personalities, moments and images. Now, he is shifting focus, moving from behind the lens to behind the mic, with the aim of offering audiences a sonic experience that challenges the status quo.
Who is ChaQee Pleez?
The name ChaQee Pleez is as distinctive as the artist behind it.
“Back in my younger days, I had a real obsession with the classic All Star Chuck Taylor sneakers,” Ingo shared.
“That’s where the name originates from: Chuck Taylor became ChaQee after I switched up the spelling to make it unique. Funny enough, people sometimes assume it’s from the horror movie doll 'Chucky'," he laughs.
“As for Pleez, it’s just a playful twist on the word ‘please’. So when you say ‘ChaQee Pleez’, you’re basically begging for more of the vibe, more music, more entertainment.”
No limits, just vibes
When it comes to sound, ChaQee Pleez makes it clear he refuses to be confined to a single genre. “I don’t apply limitations to my creativity. I see music as art, and art should be free,” he explained. “I’m like a surprise box; you never really know what’s inside until you open it. One moment it’s soulful, the next it’s a vibe you’ve never heard before.”
What’s next?
While some may anticipate a full album, ChaQee Pleez is embracing a different release strategy. “Right now, I’m focusing on dropping singles.
“You can definitely expect a steady flow of music soon, just not a full album yet.”
Collaborations in the pipeline?
Though he’s keeping details under wraps, ChaQee Pleez hints at exciting collaborations with some of Namibia’s top-tier talent.
“While nothing is officially signed yet, there are definitely some exciting discussions happening behind the scenes. I won’t name-drop just yet, but best believe, when it happens, it’ll be worth the wait.”
Debut single: ‘Abundance’
ChaQee Pleez's debut offering, ‘Abundance’, is more than just a song, it’s a mindset. “It was inspired by the power of words and the energy they carry,” he noted.
“The chorus is a series of affirmations: ‘I live in abundance, everywhere is abundance, call me abundant, I walk in abundance.’ It’s a reminder to align yourself with prosperity and gratitude. It’s not just a track, it’s a mantra.”
A creative reinvention
As Ingo continues to redefine himself through this new musical evolution, ChaQee Pleez is shaping up to be one of the freshest, most intriguing voices in Namibia’s evolving music scene; unpredictable, artistic, and full of surprises.
