Ally Tobias launches debut album at Ehangano Concert Vol. 2

Namibian gospel artist Ally Tobias will return to the stage on 4 July 2026 for Ehangano Concert Vol. 2 at the National Theatre of Namibia, where she will officially launch her debut album, Eimbilo.

The concert follows the success of the inaugural Ehangano event, which attracted audiences eager to reconnect with the traditional hymns they grew up singing. Tobias said preparations for the second edition have been both exciting and nerve-racking. “I’m excited, nervous and thrilled at the same time," she said during an interview on tjilTV’s Real Spill. "I just really want to put on a good show."

Tobias explained that Ehangano was always intended to become a recurring event. “The plan, even from Volume 1, is to make it sort of like an annual thing, or at least once in two years. There’s definitely always more coming.”

The concert will also serve as the launch of Eimbilo, an album that reimagines traditional hymns through contemporary arrangements while preserving their spiritual message.

Tobias said the project is inspired by her upbringing in the Evangelical Lutheran Church and aims to connect generations through music. “What I’m trying to do with my music is bridge the gap between the young and the old, the hip-hop lovers and the gospel music lovers.

She described the album as a “homecoming”, bringing familiar songs and memories to audiences who may be far from their roots. Among the featured tracks is Kalunga Oye Epopilo, a hymn Tobias says resonates deeply with her faith. “My God is my defender and my advocate."

Soothing comfort

The singer believes hymns remain relevant because of the nostalgia and comfort they provide. “These hymns have always meant something deep to our people. Back then, hymns were used to mourn, but this generation celebrates life, and I just want to bring back that familiarity with a joyful sound.”

Beyond the music, Ehangano Concert Vol. 2 will continue its tradition of giving back to the community.

Proceeds from the event will support the Orlindi Orphanage through donations of food and warm clothing, a cause Tobias has championed since the first concert.

The event will take place on 4 July at the National Theatre of Namibia in Windhoek. Tickets cost N$450 and are available through Webtickets Namibia.

Organisers say the concert will offer audiences an evening of worship, nostalgia and community spirit, while also making a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable children.
