SHORT: Namibia signs mutton export protocol agreement with China
Namibia and China signed an agreement last week regarding protocols for exporting sheep mutton and chevon from Namibia.
The agriculture ministry and the Chinese General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) on the inspection, quarantine and hygiene requirements.
Agriculture minister Zaamwani said the two countries have been working hard since last year negotiating relative agreements, focusing on partnership initiatives under agriculture and livelihoods.
Zaamwani said the signed Protocol and Agreement marked a productive end to these negotiations.
“My wish is for the protocol on Inspection, Quarantine and Hygiene requirements for Mutton and Chevon and the agreement in the field of quarantine and plant protection to have positive economic multiplier effects for both nations, leading to, amongst other benefits such as employment creation, positive economic development and above
all present a win-win situation for all.”
