GREEN SCHEME EMPOWERS LOCAL COMMUNITIES: During his visit to the Shadikongoro Green Scheme last week, Kavango East governor Hamunyera Hambyuka was informed by farm manager Joseph Mutero that 26 hectares of sunflowers had been planted, with harvesting expected to take place this week. Mutero said around 60 locals will be employed during the process, while surrounding communities have already been empowered through seed distribution and buy-back arrangements. The visit came ahead of a planned tour of several green schemes by President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah this week.
