SPOTLIGHT ON AI AMONG SADC MEMBERS: Scenes from the official opening of the 57th SADC-PF plenary assembly in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, this week. The assembly was officially opened by Zimbabwe’s president Emmerson Mnangagwa on Monday. Speakers at the event implored parliaments in the SADC region to embrace artificial intelligence (AI) for effective and efficient parliaments. The Namibian parliament is represented by speaker of the National Assembly Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, with MPs Paula Kooper, Longinus Iipumbu, Paulus Mbangu, Lonia Kaishungu–Shinana and Olivia Hanghuwo forming part of the Namibian delegation.



The one-week event is taking place under the theme 'Harnessing Artificial Intelligence (AI) for effective and efficient parliamentary processes in the SADC Region: Experiences, Challenges and Opportunities'.
