Tourism officers put down roaming elephant in Omusati

Kenya Kambowe
Officials from the environment and tourism ministry last week gunned down an elephant at Onawa village in Omusati Region’s Anamulenge Constituency. This was confirmed by Omusati Police commander, commissioner, Ismael Basson who told Namibian Sun that the elephant is one of the three elephants that were spotted roaming in various communities in Omusati. It is believed that the elephants managed to get out of the Etosha National Park following the recent veld fires which destroyed a large part of the national park. As for the two other elephants, Basson said he could not confirm if the they were still in the area or not.
