Rising star Precious Andre releases 'Papatele'

Faith Cloete

Precious Andre is more than an emerging name in the music industry; she is a storyteller, a creative force, and a young woman with a clear sense of purpose.

Asked to describe herself beyond the public eye, she said she is observant and intentional, someone who feels deeply and channels those emotions into her creative work.

Her transition into music has not been an overnight leap but an evolution shaped by a lifetime of creativity.

From pageantry to running her own painting business and designing clothing, Precious has always sought ways to express herself artistically.

Music, however, has become her most powerful medium, bringing all her talents and emotions together in harmony.

Depth and dimension

Her new release, 'Papatele', is bold and confident.

Born from moments of desire, curiosity and self-assurance, the track encourages listeners to step beyond their comfort zones and embrace themselves without overthinking.

The song offers an experience beyond sound, inviting listeners to feel, to be, and to become one with the moment, the music, and the confidence of being unapologetically themselves. Musically, Precious fuses Afro-pop, Afrobeats, and amapiano to create her signature sound.

Her sound spans both local and international genres, infusing multiple languages, including Oshiwambo, Spanish, Portuguese, and English. This adds depth and dimension to her music, reflecting her desire to transcend cultural boundaries.

Precious welcomes comparisons to international stars, viewing it as a source of inspiration. For her, being likened to global artists signals that people believe in her potential – an affirmation she deeply values.

Life lessons

Before music took centre stage, pageantry played a key role in shaping Precious’s confidence and discipline. It taught her how to carry herself, remain consistent, and perform even when conditions weren’t perfect. Though that chapter of her career has paused, its influence is still evident in her presence and poise.

Like many young artists in Namibia, Precious has faced her share of challenges, particularly in accessing opportunities. She views these obstacles as part of her journey, making her triumphs taste even sweeter.

At this point, success for her means growing, becoming consistent, and building a platform for something bigger. With plans to drop more music and visuals and connect with her audience on a deeper level, she is building her road to success. As for the future, Precious envisions herself on a global platform, proudly representing Namibia.

To young girls who look up to her, she offers this advice: "If no one believes in you, then believe in yourself. Start with where you are and work with what you have, because the only regret to regret is to never have started at all."
