Shatipamba, Thompson dominate Mariental Open

Lazarus Shatipamba and Jo-Mari Thompson were recently crowned champions of the Mariental Open.
The Bank Windhoek Twelfth Grand Prix event saw Shatipamba dominate the open section ahead of Naftal Helao in second place and Leonard Moses in third.
The women’s section saw Thompson reign supreme ahead of Nasilele Nkonkwena and Jolly-Joice Nepando.
In the individual awards, Tanatswanashe Katsvara was recognised as the Best Cadet, with John Peter van Zyl named Best Junior. Petrus Nangolo received the award for Best Local Player.
Tournament director Abraham Kasonde and the organisers thanked Bank Windhoek for its sponsorship and the Namibia Chess Federation (NCF) for ensuring the event’s success.
