Nangolo vs Bagwasi in title showdown

Namibia’s fast-rising boxing sensation, Flame “Specialone” Nangolo, is preparing to defend his crown in what is billed as one of the most exciting bouts of the year. The much-anticipated showdown will take place on Saturday, 13 September 2025, at the Roman Catholic Hall in Windhoek, where he will square off against Botswana’s fearless Olympian, Steven Bagwasi.

Now ranked 16th by the World Boxing Organization (WBO), Nangolo is just one win away from breaking into the prestigious Top 15 , a major step towards a potential world-title opportunity.

At only 25 years old, Nangolo has already captured the hearts of Namibian boxing fans with his aggressive style, sharp technique, and charismatic presence both inside and outside the ring. His upcoming clash with Bagwasi is more than just a title defence, it represents a pivotal moment in his career.

“Every fight is a chance to prove that Namibians belong on the world stage,” Nangolo said at a recent press conference. “This is my time, and I plan to make it count.”

AC Boxing promoter Immanuel Moses confirmed that Bagwasi has already arrived in Namibia and said the atmosphere ahead of fight night is electric.

“The fight is on and, of course, Special One is ready, Bagwasi is already in the country. We’re just looking forward to Saturday night, 13 September,” Moses said. “We’re calling on the whole nation to come in big numbers to the Roman Catholic Hall. The fight starts at 19:00. Tickets are available at the door for N$300, and tables for N$20,000 can still be booked by latecomers.”

Moses added that Nangolo’s rise to 16th in the WBO global rankings has given the Namibian a huge boost in confidence.

“It’s a big motivation. If he wins this fight, he could move into the top 12 or even top 10, the future is the limit. We can’t wait to see everyone on Saturday night.”

Bagwasi, a seasoned competitor from Botswana with a reputation for relentless pressure, is expected to provide a stern test for the undefeated champion. With a wealth of experience and international pedigree, he will be looking to derail Nangolo’s unbeaten run and claim the WBO Africa Super Featherweight Title for himself. “I know he is undefeated and I respect his record,” Bagwasi warned, “but in his career he’s never faced an opponent like me. Expect fireworks.”

The event is expected to draw boxing fans from across the country, with organisers urging the public to turn out in full force to support their local hero and witness a true cross-border sporting spectacle.
