CST rewards standout performers

The Emeraldsand Platforms Group wrapped up its three-day Creative Sport Tourism (CST) Expo on Friday, with mini sports tournaments introduced as a new addition to the annual tourism expo at Hage Geingob Stadium in Windhoek.

Basketball

In the three-on-three basketball event, The YN’s won the boys’ title, followed by ISO Elite and Muffins.

DHPS claimed the girls’ crown, with BAS Swiss Sisters finishing second and BAS Net Ninjas third.

Football

In the seven-a-side football match between Namibia Media Team and the Chinese Embassy, the latter claimed a 3-1 victory.

Rugby

The rugby seven-a-side tournament saw Aca-Tech win the boys’ U17 title ahead of their only other opponent, Bawid Bezuidenhout, while Parkies claimed the boys’ U13 event after beating Suiderhof.

Bodybuilding

In the bodybuilding event, six athletes competed across three categories.

Herman Shimana won the Jeans Model category ahead of O’yisa Makayi, while Shikongo Stefan took top honours in Classic Bodybuilding ahead of Pedro Mututo and Makayi.

Max Mbuyi won the Open Bodybuilding division.

Shikongo, Shimana and Mbuyi consequently emerged as the three category champions.

Esports

Champions were crowned across Street Fighter Six, eFootball, Assetto Corsa Competizione and Geometry Dash Lite.

Johannes “Karmaloki” Johannes took first place in Street Fighter Six, with Kieyondre “Dremon” Maletzky finishing second and Taloshili “Talo” third.

Tommy “KING_IKELA21” Ikela won the eFootball title ahead of Divaldo “Nrg Mirries” Tavares in second and Dhimbulukweni “@Zar_” Amoonga in third.

Richard Reschke won Assetto Corsa Competizione, with Adriaan Nel finishing second, while Joshua “Dexify” took the Geometry Dash Lite title.

In a statement, Namibian Electronic Sports Association (Nesa) president Flip de Bruyn thanked the event organisers for giving the sport “a moment to shine”.

“We thank our athletes who came out to compete for the top spot. Congratulations to the winners. Thank you to all of the volunteers who made it possible for Nesa to be there as well.

“We hope to see more engagement between esports and the general public in more formats like these.”
