Swapo veteran Hishoono dies
Swapo Party veteran and liberation struggle stalwart Kanana Hishoono has died, the ruling party’s secretary general Sophia Shaningwa has confirmed. He was 89.
A respected figure in the country’s liberation history, Hishoono passed away on Wednesday at Ondangwa in Oshana Region.
Among many things he is remembered for, Hishoono signed up late president Hage Geingob as a Swapo member in Tsumeb in 1962 at Tsumeb, where he was a branch secretary.
In his latter years, Hishoono served as secretary of the Swapo Party Elders Council (SPEC).
