Police investigate fatal crash involving regional commander

A culpable homicide case has been opened after a pedestrian was killed in a road accident in Witvlei on 4 April involving Omaheke regional police commander Commissioner Heinrich Tjiveze. According to a police report, Tjiveze was on duty and driving a service vehicle at the time.

"It is alleged that the pedestrian was walking in the middle of the road at the time of the collision on the main road in the Witvlei area," a police report stated.

The deceased has been identified as Otto Giovani Daniel (23). Police investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
