Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare this week praised 14-year-old author Jobina Shovaleka for pursuing her dreams and using her talents to inspire other young Namibians.

He was speaking at the BeFree Youth Centre in Katutura during the launch of Shovaleka’s foundation and her second book, We Will Always Remember That One Girl Named Lilly.

Monica Geingos also attended the event, saying: “Young people are not waiting for their turn. They are taking up space, making their voices heard and creating opportunities for others to follow.”

Ngurare, a former youth leader, commended Shovaleka’s achievements, leadership and initiative in establishing her foundation and appointing its trustees at such a young age.

Through her books and foundation, Shovaleka hopes to encourage more children to discover the joy of reading, writing and storytelling.

The Pionierspark Primary School learner was nominated for the 2025 African Authors Recognition Awards for her first book, The Aliens, written when she was 12.
