BEAR WITH US: Government has called on civil servants to exercise patience, saying it is not in a position to grant them any salary increases for now. Information minister Peya Mushelenga briefed Parliament on the status of wage negotiations undertaken between government and the Namibia Teachers Union and Namibia Public Workers Union. "As government has already pointed out to the two recognised trade unions, it will be dangerous on the part of the government, the unions' leadership and civil servants to agree to an expenditure which is beyond the means of our disposal," he told lawmakers. Civil servants have not been awarded a salary increment since the 2016 fiscal year.
