Editorial: The kindness our nation needs
There is something deeply moving about a mother walking kilometres under the scorching sun, carrying a baby on her back and collecting discarded plastic and scrap metal just to put food on the table.
It is even more moving when strangers, touched by her suffering, reach out to remind her that she is not alone.
The generosity shown towards a struggling mother in Rundu reminds us that, despite the hardships facing our country, compassion still lives in the hearts of Namibians.
People who had never met her opened their wallets, shared their belongings and offered opportunities that could change her family's circumstances.
Such kindness restores our faith in humanity because behind every person struggling to survive is a life filled with worries, sacrifices and dreams that deserve our attention.
There are many mothers, fathers and children silently enduring similar hardships across Namibia, often without anyone noticing their suffering.
We should never have to wait until someone's pain makes headlines before extending a helping hand.
A little kindness, offered with dignity and without expecting anything in return, can restore hope where despair has taken hold.
That is the Namibia we should strive to become.
