Wilde Kind, a band made up of lead singer Danella Smith from Namibia, drummer Teryy Knight from England, pianist Julian Bonitz from Germany, lead guitarist Thomas Booi from Netherlands and bassist Fito Rodriguez from Spain, will be releasing their second single for the year on Thursday, 29 April.
Titled ‘Liquid Sunshine’, the single is lifted off their full-length album, which will be dropped late this year.
Speaking to tjil, Smith said from production to album design, they have created an independent product.
“Wilde Kind considers itself an artist collective channelling the creativity of collaborators from eight different nationalities - Namibia, Spain, England, Germany, Netherlands, Estonia, France and Ecuador. The cover art was created by Namibian artist Sigi Kolbe, and the video is by Namibian film-maker Robert Scott,” she shared.

Smith said ‘Liquid Sunshine’ is about the love for rain in Namibia, adding that it describes the feeling every Namibian knows: Running outside, dancing and celebrating when the first drops of rain hit the dry soil.
“With its upbeat feeling, the song embodies pure happiness and has a cheerful African vibe. It celebrates life and the importance of rain.”
