Several women were raped recently, including a mentally challenged woman and a teenager.

On Friday, a 20-year-old mentally challenged woman was raped at Ndoyona by a 30-year-old man.

The man reportedly dragged her into the bushes when she was on her way home from the river, removed her underwear and raped her. He has since been arrested.

In another incident on Wednesday at Ongali village in the Ohangwena Region, a 13-year-old girl was raped by her 20-year-old cousin.

It is alleged that the suspect entered the bedroom where the girl and other children were sleeping, undressed and raped her. He has been arrested.

Gang rape

In a separate incident on Sunday at Olukonda, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 34-year-old man. The suspect has been arrested.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, a 17-year-old girl was gang-raped by two men in Karasburg.

The girl was walking home when two unknown men attacked her in a riverbed.

She was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and is unable to recognise the suspects.

Foetus found

On Friday at Wanaheda, the body of a foetus was found in a public toilet.

It was discovered by a member of the public, who was trying to unblock the toilet.

The suspect is not known at this stage.

At Mahenzere in Kavango West, a month-old baby boy died after he fell from his mother's back while she was under the influence of alcohol.

The mother was on her way home from a shebeen.

The deceased was identified as Manfred Haingura.

Woman stabbed by mother

Meanwhile, a 45-year-old woman was stabbed with a broken bottle, allegedly by her 62-year-old mother on Thursday in Okahao.

According to the police, the woman was first hit with an empty bottle by her mother, who then took the broken bottle and stabbed her in the back of her neck.

The woman was admitted to the Okahao District Hospital and her mother was arrested.

In another incident, a 31-year-old man committed suicide at Onayana on Friday, after he threatened his girlfriend with a knife.

According to the police, the man hanged himself in his girlfriend's bedroom with a rope.

The two had an argument and the man then threatened his girlfriend, but she managed to run away. Upon her return, she found him hanging and cut the rope, but failed to rescue him.

Meanwhile, on Friday, two men were arrested in Mariental after they were found in possession of four parcels of cannabis weighing 1 505 kilograms.

The suspects, aged 29 and 31, were arrested.
