Swapo members take key positions in Otavi town council

Five members of the Swapo Party have been appointed to key positions in the Otavi town council.
Isaac !Hoaeb was sworn in as mayor, Frieda Mvula as his deputy, Erisia Negumbo as the council's management committee chairperson and Naftalie Dausab and Timoteus Shipandeni as management committee members.
Bella Utale was sworn in as an additional member of the management committee and Eterna Brookmann as the only ordinary council member.
Utale is from the Landless People's Movement (LPM) and Brookmann from the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC).
Their swearing in was delayed by the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN), which had to allocate seats to their political parties at the ECN headquarters in Windhoek.
The allocation of seats was announced last Wednesday by the ECN.
The new councillors were sworn in by Magistrate McLean Handjuba on Friday.
They were elected in the regional council and local authority elections on 25 November 2020.
