The applications for phase two of the financial assistance grant for start-ups, which was rolled out through a partnership between the ministry of industrialisation and trade and Start-Up Namibia, have been extended to Sunday, 20 September.
Owners of small companies are encouraged to apply by following the steps on startupnam.org.
Leitago Narib from Start-Up Namibia said the process has attracted a large response so far since applications opened on 2 September, with many asking for an extension.
By the end of this month, successful applicants will be contacted and payments will commence during the first five days of October.
Keeping businesses afloat
Through the initiative, 500 start-ups will receive up to N$15 000 as a single payment to aid them in meeting their day-to-day expenses and to keep their businesses afloat.
Businesses are eligible to apply if they are registered, have been in operation for no more than five years and have a business bank account.
“Start-ups in the Erongo Region as well as female-led or female-founded start-ups in sectors hit the hardest by the pandemic are especially encouraged to apply,” Narib said.
The application process requires that applicants submit a founding statement from the Business and Intellectual Property Authority of Namibia, bank statements for June to August along with a business continuity plan which provides details on the use of funds.
