Kuisebmond Secondary School in Walvis Bay was the host of the first High School Chamber Choir competition on Saturday.

Six schools participated in the competition: Kuisebmond Secondary School, Dibasen Secondary School, Martin Luther High School, Duinesig High School, Tutaleni High School and Swakopmund Secondary School.

The judges were Theodore Cookson, Wilna Liebenberg and Karen Miller. Each choir had to sing three songs - Western, traditional and gospel.

After careful deliberation, Swakopmund Secondary School won first prize, followed by Duinesig High School in second and Tutaleni High School in third place.

The organiser of the competition, Given Gowaseb, said it was a huge success.

“Three schools from Okahandja and Windhoek couldn’t make it, but despite this, it was a great competition with immense talent. The next one will only be bigger and better!”
