The Mamelodi Sundowns talisman, whose contract ends on 3 June 2025, has the likes of Egyptian club Ah Ahly chasing after him.
According to international media, Pitso Motsename has told the club to pursue the Namibian as he looks to strengthen his squad, but Sundowns are not willing to sell their magic man and has set a price tag of $3 million for a club which wants him.
Golden boot chase
Shalulile has so far scored 10 goals for Sundowns in the premier league and sits on the fourth position on the log. He has four goals in the Nedbank Cup, and seven in the Caf Championship League. This is seven goals and eight assists in 32 appearances across all competitions for Sundowns.
SuperSport United’s Bradley Grobler has 13 for his club, followed in third and fourth by Swallows Ruzaigh Gamildien and Maritzburg United’s Thabiso Simon Kutumela, who both have 11 goals.
A source told Namibian Sun that Ah Ahly is ready to put the money on the table. “These guys are talking big money. I think it will be a good move for Shalulile. He can go make some money and return to the South African premier league. Football is about taking opportunities,” he said.
Footballer of the Season
In addition, the Sundowns player is not just making it hard for clubs not to want him as he has emerged as the frontrunner in the race for the 2020/21 KICK OFF Footballer of the Season. This is the second time Shalulile has been nominated for the awards.
Shalulile has taken the early lead in the race for the best player of the current season, according to the latest votes. He has accumulated 61 percent of the votes thus far.
Also in the running is Themba Zwane, who is second behind Shalulile with 13 percent of the votes, while Mduduzi Mdantsane, Gamildien, Fortune Makaringe, Augustine Mulenga and Bradley Grobler lag behind with a share of the remaining 16 percent of the votes after the first week. Voting remains open until May 21.
