A grade 11 Mupewa Combined School learner who had been in close contact with a Covid-19 patient, and later went on a spitting spree in his classroom, has tested negative for the deadly virus.
This was confirmed by school principal Steven Nelumbu, who told Namibian Sun the learner brought his results to the school, situated in Oshikuku in the Omusati Region, as proof.
“He got his results last week Monday and was found to be negative. He did not catch anything. He brought me the paper from the NIP (Namibia Institute of Pathology); he is okay,” Nelumbu said.
The principal added that all the learners who were sent home following the spitting incident have resumed classes.
“All is back to normal at the school. We are so relieved,” he said.
Disciplinary hearing
However, despite testing negative for the coronavirus, the learner will appear before a disciplinary hearing on Thursday for his conduct, the principal said.
Nelumbu also indicated that the patient the learner came into close contact with has recovered and is at home. The learner had confessed that he shared a beer with the patient during an outing.
