PSL star herds cows
While most players have locked themselves down for 21 days, one PSL star is tending to cattle back home in Macambini as he spends time with his family.
It's not what many would have expected, but AmaZulu midfielder Siphelele Magubane is still on the field – albeit a different sort of field – as he keeps busy during lockdown by helping his uncle look after his herd.
The 27-year-old is also following his training programme provided by the club to keep fit while the league is suspended.
“I am back home to spend this period with my family and also look after myself,” Magubane said. There is nothing much I can do except follow the training programme and help do the chores at home.”
Taking it back
“Most of the time, I also join my cousins to look after cattle. This is what I used to do whilst growing up and I still enjoy doing it. Normally we climb hills when we take the cattle to the grazing fields.
“We get to run up there in the hills and play games. Then I come back home, have training programme and relax. So far, so good, and refreshing.”
Like many other players, Magubane has joined the chorus to warn people about the coronavirus and urged them to take precautionary measures in a bid to curb the spread of the virus.
“I wish people can take this thing seriously. Some people want to wait and see it with their naked eyes. This is dangerous,” he warned. Let's abide by the rules of the state and stay at home. This 21-day lockdown will help us a lot. Stay at home, wash your hands and let's take care of ourselves.
“I saw the news in Italy, it's scary. If we can't respect the instructions from the government, we might as well go for three months' lockdown.”
Magubane joined Usuthu from Golden Arrows in January and quickly established himself as a regular in the team's starting line-up.
