Professional boxing comes to Oshakati
The Oshakati-based Kilimanjaro Boxing Promotions is hosting a professional boxing bonanza at the northern town that is expected to attract some of the best-known Namibian boxers as well as upcoming pugilists trying to make their mark at professional level.
According to boxing promoter Joseph Bernhard the boxing event - dubbed the Vaino Nghipondoka Boxing Bonanza - will take place at the Mvula Complex at Oshakati on 28 May.
Bernhard said the main bout will be a welterweight national title fight pitting Immanuel Mungandjera against Daniel ‘Open Fire’ Kashela.
The undercard will feature boxers who have recently turned professional, such as Kapena Naidjala, Michael Bernhard, Julius Sheefeni and many others from Swakopmund, Lüderitz and the Nestor Tobias Sunshine Academy.
Bernhard said preparations for the event will be kick-started with a gala dinner at Ongwediva this Saturday.
This is the third time the Kilimanjaro Boxing Promotions is hosting a professional boxing bonanza.
Previous events took place at Onandjaba in the Omusati Region and Omuthiya in Oshikoto.
