TRANSPARENT: The DTA last week handed over its audited financial report as per the Electoral Act to the secretary of the National Assembly, Lydia Kandetu. According to Kandetu this is the first time a political party has opened its books since the new Act took effect. The DTA’s Nico Smit challenged other political parties to emulate this example and be transparent and open. Meanwhile, DTA president McHenry Venaani pointed out that there is a difference between DTA assets and the money the party gets from government coffers.
