The Namibian police in the Omusati Region is investigating a case of fraud after a 60-year-old woman was allegedly defrauded of N$107 457 by three suspects last Friday at her homestead in Oshilulu village of the Okahao constituency.

According to a police crime report issued on Sunday, the incident allegedly happened at around 08h30, when three suspects went to her homestead pretending to be police members wearing masks with a police logo and asked the victim to sign documents to surrender her identity documents, cellphone, bank card and cash to them.

The report further stated that the three men went on to withdraw money from the victim's account without her consent. No arrest or recovery has been made as yet and police investigations continue.

Assault

Meanwhile in a separate incident, a 22-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted by an unknown suspect in Moses Garoeb Street in Windhoek's Otjomuise residential area last Friday.

It is alleged that the suspect pointed a firearm at the victim before hitting her with it and taking her cellphone valued at N$705. No arrest or recovery has been made.

Police in Oshana also arrested a 39-year-old man after he was allegedly found in possession of seven 30-litre containers of diesel at Uupopo location in Ondangwa last Friday. The value of the fuel is approximately N$12 000. The suspect was expected to appear at the Ondangwa Magistrate's Court yesterday.
