Athletes from the town and across Namibia will compete for top places and prizes at the Okahandja Horse Racing Turf Course.
Organisers have invited all 14 regions to take part in various sporting disciplines.
Race director Berthold Karumendu said the championships will be exciting. There will be races for junior under-20 men and women categories, while the senior men and women will also be part of the competition. Athletes from primary schools and those under 18 are also invited to compete.
“The public must be reminded that only the senior men and women plus the under-20 men and women will actually be competing for positions at the Togo Africa cross country championships,” he said.
The main race will be over 10km with athletes required to complete five loops around the field.
The under-20 men will contest over 8km, completing four loops, while the under-20 women are required to complete 6km in three loops.
“This year, the national cross country championships will serve as trials to select a team that will represent Namibia at the CAA Africa Cross Country Championships on 8 April in Lome, Togo.
“The community of Okahandja and the public at large are hereby invited to come and support cross country running here in Okahandja,” Karumendu added.
