Sam Nujoma’s private doctor, Tshali Iithete, yesterday dispelled rumours that the founding president – who is turning 92 in May - is fighting for his life in hospital.
Iithete told Namibian Sun Nujoma is well and has not been admitted to any hospital.
He said Nujoma is enjoying fresh air at Walvis Bay and will be returning to Windhoek this week.
“I was with him on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and I spoke to him today (Monday) as well. He is very much fine. The rumour must have been started by the audio which was circulating over the weekend,” he said.
The audio clip he referred to claims Nujoma is in anguish due to the current state of affairs in the country.
“He is doing well. He is in good spirit even though he is observing the current affairs like all of us. He takes his walks around the ocean. The public should not panic,” Iithete said.
