NSSU bags sponsorship

The Namibia School Sport Union (NSSU) yesterday received a sponsorship worth N$377 000 from Coca-Cola. The annual sponsorship is used for the activities of the union, including the staging of regional and national school sport events. Coca-Cola also sponsored the same amount last year, which was divided among rugby, netball and athletics. This year, rugby receives N$145 000 and netball gets N$60 000, while N$172 000 is allocated to athletics. The national director of the NSSU, Solly Duiker, said: “We are very happy with the sponsorship we got today. “The NSSU would like to thank its main sponsor, Coca-Cola, for making all this possible. “The school sports union is grateful for the partnership between us and our sponsors.” Duiker assured the public that the funds would be used for the intended purpose - to develop school sport. A portion of the amount will be used for the Coca-Cola track-and-field national championship at the Independence Stadium in Windhoek tomorrow and Friday. Coca-Cola marketing manager Maguire Mulder reassured the NSSU that the company would remain committed towards the Namibian people. Namibia Sports Commission (NSC) chief administrator Simataa Mwiya thanked Coca-Cola for assisting in the development of sports. “We from the Namibia Sports Commission as a board, staff and affiliates appreciate the financial support that Coca-Cola is rendering to one of our affiliates. “It is worth mentioning that your investment in our young generation will go a long way in developing the minds of future sports ambassadors,” Mwiya said. “You are indeed a great partner who has for many years invested in various sports codes in our country,” he said.JESSE JACKSON KAURAISA
