No mountain is too big
Bianca Muller has earned her stripes and is gracefully establishing herself in the company, as well as on the corporate scene.

Bianca Muller is currently the sales manager at one of Ohlthaver & List’s subsidiaries, Hangana
Seafood, and has been promoted to human resources manager. This change is effective from 01 November 2018.
As a result, Muller will serve on the senior leadership team (SLT) of Hangana Seafood and automatically forms part of the O&L Group’s top leadership team (TLT). She has earned her stripes and is gracefully establishing herself in the company, as well as on the corporate scene.
Her journey
“My experience at Hangana Seafood over the past six years has been nothing less than an amazing journey of growth and development. I have been exposed to various networks of people, (suppliers, agents, customers and industry leaders), who have shared their wealth of knowledge about their industries and I was able to successfully incorporate these learnings into my current role,” Muller says.
She says the outstanding leadership within the company has provided her with an opportunity to learn from all her established superiors.
The corporate jungle has many segments and Muller says she has had time to become enlightened by each sector on a different level.
“What stood out for me is how my interactions with customers in different markets has equipped me with a broad insight on customer market requirements, as well as how these have evolved into this ever-changing era of technology,” she said.
The plan
“In any business environment, there are challenges and constraints that both directly and indirectly form part of the micro and macro environment. For a production and export operation such as Hangana Seafood, the limited availability of quotas is a constraint, mostly because we are unable to keep up with market demand (locally and internationally), i.e. demand outweighs supply.
“In order to curb this, we expanded our strategy to also look at offering foreign species, which are well-received by the various customer markets,” she added.
Her short-term goals include being proactive and making sure the company becomes more and more efficient.
“The human/people aspect of any company is one of its greatest assets, paving a firm pathway to success. Employee engagement is a fundamental part of building an efficient and reliable workforce, through managing relationships, effective communication and feedback, and ultimately transforming the concept of engagement to that of creating lasting positive experiences for employees,” Muller says.
When it comes to Ohlthaver & List as a whole she is most proud of the diversity within the company, its values and how the purpose of ‘Creating a Future, Enhancing Life’ speaks to not only its internal employees but to the greater Namibian nation at large.
“O&L is a consortium of great leadership, innovation and breakthrough initiatives. We are a close-knit family of different cultures that is focused on one common goal, and this is indeed something to be proud of,” she adds.
A typical day in the office for Muller starts off with a daily operations meeting, where she shares updates with the rest of her team members in various departments. Most of her current work revolves around managing Hangana Seafood’s export customer requirements and orders and she works closely with production management and the teams to ensure these requirements are met.
Going forward she is excited to serve the Hangana employees as HR manager.
Muller in a nutshell is a hard worker, who is passionate about people and never backs down in the face of challenges.
When asked what she values most about her upbringing, she says: “Definitely my humble beginnings in the streets of Dolam.”
She doesn’t eat liver, “because of the way it looks when it’s uncooked”, and she enjoys her newfound hobby, gardening.
