Always condomise - Haingura
The deputy minister of health and social services, Petrina Haingura, has urged Namibian couples to stick to using condoms in the quest to prevent the spread of HIV/Aids.
Haingura said this on Wednesday at the graduation of 116 students who completed three-week training courses offered by Women's Action for Development (WAD) at Otjiwarongo.
The training courses were in computer literacy, office administration, hospitality, needlework and gender-related law.
Haingura said her ministry had started noticing a win in the fight against HIV/Aids in the country, as there have been no new infections recorded among some recently tested pregnant women countrywide.
Arandis promotes gender equality
The Arandis Town Council yesterday signed a statement of commitment on the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Gender Protocol, which seeks to advance gender equality.
Arandis Mayor Daniel Muhuura officially signed the document.
The SADC Gender Protocol was adopted in 2008 and focuses on the integration and mainstreaming of gender issues for the sustainable development of the SADC region.
The protocol aims to empower women, eliminate discrimination and achieve gender equality by encouraging and harmonising the development and implementation of gender-responsive legislation, policies and programmes.
