NamPower, UNFPA and SCE Engineering Consultancy donate towards the MTC Knockout Project
The Knockout Project is under way and a few companies have made donations towards the fight against homelessness in Namibia.

After the success of last year’s MTC Knockout Project against gender-based violence (GBV), MTC kept the spirit alive, with this year’s project targeting homelessness in Namibia.
The managing director of NamPower, Simson Kahenge Haulofu, applauded MTC of this project to change the lives of people.
“Corporates should come together and give the necessary support. We at NamPower are aware of and recognise the needs of our society, especially those that are less privileged.
“NamPower is proud to have invested millions in projects and in uplifting the socioeconomic conditions of the communities. We are pleased to once again demonstrate by generously contributing N$50 000 towards the MTC Knockout Project against homelessness initiative,” Haulofu said.
The country representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Dennia Gayle, thanked MTC and the deputy minister of information and communication, Emma Theofelus, for initiating this project.
Gayle emphasised that homelessness is not just a Namibian problem but a global issue.
“This partnership is important to UNFPA. As individual entities we can make a certain dent in an issue but the reality is we need to bring our collective effort together, then we are talking about a knockout and that’s exactly why this is so important for UNFPA because we are looking for knockouts in the world, not small solutions,” Gayle said.
UNFPA donated N$50 000 towards the MTC Knockout Project, while SCE Engineering Consultancy donated N$20 000.
MTC executive Tim Ekandjo thanked all the donors and urged others to come on board.
“Let us stop being part of the problem and let’s start being part of the solution. Make your contribution on our SMS line 222, whether you want to donate two cents or N$1.00,” Ekandjo said.
