Namibiese akteurs maak naam in buiteland

Windhoek Gimnasium het tydens jeugteaterfees in Johannesburg beoordelaars en lede van die gehoor met hul passie, toewyding en deursettingsvermoë betower en met verskeie pryse weggestap.

Dramagroepe van Windhoek Gimna­sium het vanaf 2 tot 5 Oktober aan die finaal van die Curro Create National Youth Theatre Festival in Johannesburg deelgeneem.

Beide die hoërskool- en laerskoolproduksies het met die eerste plek weggestap.

Verder het Paul-Hendrik van Zyl die prys vir beste hoërskool- en laerskoolbeligtingoperateur ontvang, Jamie Oosthuizen die prys vir beste laerskoolakteur, me. Helene Wilders die prys vir beste laerskoolregisseur en me. Magdaleen van Zyl ontvang die toekenning vir beste hoërskoolregisseur.

Beide groepe het ook die toekenning ontvang vir beste toneelgeselskap en 'n ­spesiale toekenning is aan Marné Rieckert en Mieke Frielingsdorf gegee vir hul inter­aksie op die verhoog.

“Wat 'n ongelooflike ondervinding. Nie net het ons gewen nie, maar ons kon ook ons storie met soveel mense deel. Ons het soveel geleer deur die jaar se drama en ons bande met mekaar, veral tussen die laerskool, is sterker. Dit is wonderlik om te weet dat Namibië nie vir Suid-Afrikaanse mededingers hoef terug te staan nie,” sê Shani Nel, 'n graad 9-leerling van Windhoek Gimnasium.

Abigale Higgs, 'n graad 8-leerling van Windhoek Gimnasium, was dankbaar vir die geleentheid om as groep op die verhoog te kan deelneem. “Dit was 'n onvergeetlike ervaring. Elke uur se harde werk was verseker die moeite werd. Ek is so dankbaar dat ons as groep in een stem die storie kon vertel. Dankie vir 'n wonderlike voorreg om deel te kon wees van 'n wenspan.”

Nie net het die akteurs die geleentheid gehad om hul storie te deel nie, maar het die kans gehad om op 'n verhoog teen gesoute akteurs deel te neem, met beide groepe wat hul man gestaan het. “Die kinders het hul beste opvoering nog gelewer! Hul het lekker energie op die verhoog gehad en geïmproviseer as iets fout gegaan het, wat die komedie soveel snaakser gemaak het! Die prins se hoed het afgeval toe dit nie moes nie, en die verteller se driehoekie was soek toe Rapunzel se “tears of true love” in die prins se oë moes drup sodat hy weer kon sien. Die manne het kreatiewe planne gemaak wat skreeusnaaks was en die hele groep het saamgespeel. My twee tegniese manne was ook puik! Ek is uiters trots op hierdie 11 jongmense,” sê me. Helena Wilders, die afrigter en regisseur van die laerskoolproduksie Rapunzel Uncut.

“Ek is so opgewonde en dankbaar! Al die moeite om ons dekor in Suid-Afrika reg te kry, was deur en deur die moeite werd. Die ma's en kinders het gehelp om die heksewoud se bome te verf die dag van ons eerste optrede in Johannesburg, omdat dit nie vroeër gedoen kon word nie, en dit is die toonbeeld van spanwerk,” het Wilders verder gesê.

Me. Magdaleen Van Zyl, die regisseur en afrigter van Doodmoeg, die hoërskoolproduksie, was ongelooflik trots en dankbaar vir nie net die wen nie, maar die geleentheid om as span hul storie met ander te kan deel. “Ek is net so tevrede en dankbaar. Net die feit dat mense aangeraak kan word deur ons teks is vir my reeds 'n wen. Na die tyd wou die beoordelaars by my weet waar ons hierdie X-faktor vandaan kry. Dit is omdat die kinders bereid is om so kwesbaar op die verhoog te wees en hulle stories te deel met die mense daar buite. Dit is ongelooflik kosbaar en hierdie tieners waarmee ons kan werk is so braaf. Elke lid van die span, van tegnies tot dekor tot toneelspelers het absolute deursettings­vermoë en passie en toewyding getoon en dit is ongelooflik om te kan sien,” het Van Zyl gesê.

“Om deel van die produksie Doodmoeg te wees was wonderlik. Om 'n stem te wees vir mense wat nie oor sulke goed kan praat nie , was 'n groot voorreg. Ek sal dit weer enige tyd oor doen. Die wen is so amazing en ons span is so dankbaar en bly. Die feit dat ons vir soveel mense iets kon beteken is vêr beter as enige wen,” sê Marlynne Brandt, 'n graad 11-leerling wat deel van die hoërskoolproduksie was.
