Morocco too good for Namibia
Namibia's women beach volleyball team of Kim Seebach and Kristin Schulz lost their second match of the competition to hosts Morocco on Friday at the African Games, currently underway in Rabat, Morocco.
The 12th edition of the games is being held in Casablanca and Rabat from 16 to 31 August.
Namibia, who are in Group A with Morocco, Sierra Leone and Sudan, collected their first points of the group stage earlier on Friday afternoon, after Sierra Leone forfeited their match.
In their second group game at the competition later on Friday, Seebach and Schultz met a strong home side, who dominated the match and won both sets of the game.
Despite the Namibian girls making a few errors, their opponents had the home-ground advantage, as they played in front of their cheering fans.
Namibia lost the first set 15-21 and the second set 12-21.
Seebach said with Morocco being one of the strongest teams at the competition, losing to them is not discouraging and they are positive of doing better in their last group game.
“We played well today, but small errors also cost us the game. We are now looking forward to the last match against Sudan. Our defeat is a motivation to work harder, if we are to go through to the next round of the competition,” she said.
Namibia's beach volleyball team is coached by James Verrinder.
