A man who is suspected of having stabbed to death his girlfriend, Hertah Ndakula (33), in Sea Point, Kuisebmond, hanged himself at the same premises on Saturday.

Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu confirmed the incident, saying that the man, who was identified as Fillemon Nghatanga (35), left a suicide note.

“This morning at around 06:55, the deceased male allegedly contacted one of his friends via cellphone and requested him to come to their shack. When the friend arrived at the shack at around 08:00, he discovered the two bodies and notified the police. The relatives of the deceased were informed.”

According to Iikuyu, Nghatanga left a suicide note in which he indicated that he was unhappy with his girlfriend's decision to end their relationship.

The couple was last seen alive on Friday at the shack at about 23:00.

Another suicide

It is alleged that Isai Panduleni Sheefeni (34) hanged himself with a rope tied to the roof of his shack in Kuisebmond on Thursday.

“His body was discovered by another tenant who went to the bathroom. The tenant saw that the door of the deceased's shack situated between a bar and the main house, was open and discovered the deceased inside,” Iikuyu said.

Sheefeni worked at a bar in Kuisebmond and was last seen alive at his workplace on Wednesday at about 20:00.

Iikuyu said Sheefeni did not leave a suicide note but that no foul play is suspected. The next of kin have been informed.

Drug bust

A man (41) was arrested at the DRC informal settlement in Mondesa after narcotics worth an estimated N$3 480 were found in his possession during a police action.

The drugs included 60 grams of dagga and four Mandrax tablets.

The suspect will make his first appearance before the Swakopmund magistrate's court on today.
