Man hacks girlfriend with panga, commits suicide

Silas Iyambo (46) hanged himself on Sunday night after he allegedly hacked his 47-year-old girlfriend with a panga at Okathakiingondjo village.
The woman, whose identity could not be revealed, was struck several times on the head and sustained injuries.
Oshana police warrant officer Frieda Shikole said the victim was admitted to the Oshakati State Hospital and is in a stable condition.
"It is alleged that the two were quarrelling before the incident in their bedroom," Shikole said, adding that Iyambo was found dead in the same room.
She said the couple, who were in a long-term relationship, where living together at the time of the incident.
Shikole said it is still unclear what led to the argument. Police investigations continue.
