Man digs into shack to rape pensioner

A 32-year-old man yesterday appeared in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on a charge of rape after he allegedly raped an 85-year-old woman in her shack on New Year’s Eve.
The suspect, Vasco Ngongo, appeared before Magistrate Barry Mufana, who postponed the matter to 5 April for further police investigations.
Ngongo remains in police custody after he was denied bail.
According to the police report, the incident happened at Sarukwe village on 1 January.
Ngongo allegedly used a shovel to tunnel into the victim’s shack.
The suspect was arrested on 4 January after family members of the victim heard about the incident and contacted the police.
Meanwhile, the police in Kavango East are hard at work to trace a 29-year-old man who allegedly raped a 19-year-old victim at Shankara village between 1 and 2 January.
In another rape case, a 20-year-old man was arrested in Rundu after he allegedly raped a 13-year-old girl on 28 December 2021. The incident happened in Rundu’s Sun City location.
