A 32-year-old man yesterday appeared in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on a charge of rape after he allegedly raped an 85-year-old woman in her shack on New Year’s Eve.

The suspect, Vasco Ngongo, appeared before Magistrate Barry Mufana, who postponed the matter to 5 April for further police investigations.

Ngongo remains in police custody after he was denied bail.

According to the police report, the incident happened at Sarukwe village on 1 January.

Ngongo allegedly used a shovel to tunnel into the victim’s shack.
