Former Tigers and African Stars keeper Loydt Kazapua said watching some of the players who came before and during his era in the Namibia Premier League (NPL) was a blessing.

Some players in Namibia had the potential to play in the best leagues around Europe given the talent they possessed, he added.

While acknowledging that the NPL had some star-studded line-ups, Kazapua picked his all-time eleven he would select if he were ever to be a coach.

The team

Goalkeeper: Former Black Africa goalkeeper Arnold Subeb inspired Kazapua because of his composure and shot-stopping skills.

“There were many good goalkeepers out there including myself, but I will have to go with Subeb given the authority he had in goal and the way he commanded the penalty area.” Right back: Former Civics and Black Africa player Sedekia Haukambe is a defender Kazapua said he would pick any day.

“Haukambe was strong and consistent in his position and was an enjoyable player to see in a team on any given day.

Centre backs: Former Black Africa defender Muree Katjiteo is said to have been one of Kazapua's favourite players to watch.

“Any goalkeeper would feel confident when you have a shield like Katjiteo in front of you. He was great.” Former African Stars Andrew Tjahikika is another of Kazapua's favourites as far as guarding the goal is concerned.

Midfielders: Versatile former African Stars midfielder Jamunovandu Ngatjizeko is a player Kazapua said he would not leave behind.

“He is a natural talent who one can be used in many positions on the field because of his versatility.”

The late midfielder Victor Helu, who had a stint with several clubs including Civics and Eleven Arrows, touched Kazapua's heart with some dominating performances in the premier league.

“He was very good and I would select him week in and week out.”

Former Brave Warriors and African Stars skipper Ronald Ketjijere also earns himself a place on Kazapua's squad.

Attacking midfielder: Quinton Jacobs excited Kazapua whenever he touched the ball.

“He was a marvel to watch and he had it all as a player.”

Forwards: Former Ramblers FC forward Lazarus Kaimbi is in Kazapua's eleven.

“When you need a goal, he will score.”

Kazapua added he would also rely on former Ramblers FC striker Henrico Botes for goals and aerial presence. Last on the list would be former Liverpool, Blue Waters and Civics goal poacher, William Chilufya.
