KASU Winter Cup rescheduled
NAMPA
The eighth edition of the annual Katutura Sports Union (Kasu) Winter Cup football competition, which was scheduled for this weekend, has been postponed to 29 August.
The chairperson of the competition, Kuveri Tjonga, said the postponement was caused by unavailability of a stadium in the capital this weekend. “It remains a challenge to acquire sports grounds in the capital and that forces us to prolong our tournaments. There are no other options but to move continuation dates to month-end,” Tjonga said. The Kasu netball competition ended last weekend after Otjinene-based Otjijere defeated Okavandje from Windhoek in the final.
Dynamos from Ovihitua will be up against Township City in the first football quarterfinals, followed by Onembenge facing Otjihitua Tjivi Tjaruru.
Otjijere from Otjinene will lock horns against their Otjinene counterparts, Okauua Rovers, in another quarterfinal match. Defending champions Tom and Jerry football team booked their place in the semi-finals last weekend.
Besides prize money, the winning team will walk away with a trophy and medals.
