Amateur boxer Jonas Junias Jonas will travel to Minsk, Belarus, for the 18th International Elite Men and Women Boxing Tournament.
The competition takes place over seven days from 16 to 22 November.
With boxing action returning around the world, this presents an opportunity for the Namibian to hone his skills for next year's Tokyo Olympic Games.
“I need to be in top shape,” the fighter said, adding that he would like to train at a high-performance centre, preferably in Cuba, to further ready himself for the Games.
The tournament will take place at Sport Palace in Minsk and will be held in accordance with the health and safety requirements amid the ongoing pandemic.
All sanitary measures will be observed to meet the recommendations of the Belarusian healthcare ministry and the recommendations of the International Boxing Federation.
Twenty-six-year-old Jonas, who hails from Swakopmund, is a medal hopeful for next year. He has done considerably well in past competitions, having won bronze at the African Games last year, gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, silver at the 2015 African Games and silver at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
