I don't have a game plan – Jonas
Local lightweight boxer Jonas Junias Jonas says he doesn't have a game plan when he steps into the ring – except using his opponent's approach against him.
The 2018 Commonwealth Games gold medallist Jonas will fight his final battle in the African qualifying tournament in Dakar, Senegal, today against Richarno Colin of Mauritius.
Jonas made it through to the final after beating Abdelhaq Nadir of Morocco in the semi-final and thus qualified for the Tokyo Olympic Games after an impressive victory. This is his second Olympic Games after competing in Rio in 2016.
The local boxer won the fight by split decision, with three of the judges scoring in his favour. “I'll do my best today,” he said. He becomes the fourth Namibian athlete alongside marathoner Helalia Johannes, rower Maike Diekmann and cyclist Vera Adrian-Looser to qualify for Tokyo.
