Hundreds march for Cheryl
Hundreds of Katutura residents gathered earlier today at the family home of the late Cheryl Avihe Ujaha, for a march to the scene where her dismembered body was discovered recently.
The procession proceeded peacefully along Clemens Kapuuo Street and stopped briefly at the scene where nine-year-old Cheryl’s body was found by a passer-by in a riverbed.
A cross was erected at the scene and a wreath-laying ceremony was conducted where mourners were joined by Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila.
The march then proceeded to a Katutura youth complex, where speakers denounced Cheryl’s murder. A petition was handed over to Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, marking the end of the event.
A wake will be held at Cheryl’s grandparents’ residence in Wanaheda tonight.
She will be laid to rest tomorrow, with a church service scheduled at El Shaddai Ministries for 08:00.
Her funeral rites will take place at 10:00 at the Gammams Cemetery.
Meanwhile, the police have posted a reward of N$100 000 for anyone who has information regarding Cheryl’s death.
Her killer or killers remain at large.
