Hollard helps renovate Soweto Boxing Club gym
Hollard Namibia on Tuesday revealed the extent to which they renovated the Soweto Boxing Club’s gym.
The gym is situated at the Katutura Youth Complex.
The insurance company sponsored about N$60 000 to upgrade the place.
Hollard Namibia’s managing director Dewet Joubert said their involvement was motivated by a desire to help Namibia’s youth.
“A while ago we visited the gym and… we saw that there was a dire need for renovation here,” he said.
“We are passionate about the guys that train here as it keeps them out of the streets.
“There are a couple of guys that are on their way to the Olympics and we believe those guys will be the future flag-bearers… so we thought that this would be a great investment in the future of Namibia.”
The gym is run by renowned trainer Tobias Nashilongo, whose boxers include Bethuel ‘Tyson’ Uushona and Martin ‘Black Poison’ Haikali.
Joubert encouraged prospective fighters to join the gym.
“If you want to be fit in terms of your body and mind, you should join Nashilongo’s gym.
“He can take you to better places. He has already taken two guys to the Olympics. So come here and try it out, keep away from the bad stuff and come and see what the good stuff is all about.”
Uushona thanked Hollard for their contribution.
“As the captain of the gym, I’m very thankful for Hollard for making this possible. “You can see that it looks very good now, which is very important. Because when you train in such a nice place, it will motivate you to come every day,” he said.
