Ethiopian-born Dutch middle- and long-distance runner Sifan Hassan is expected to arrive in Namibia this week.
Hassan was expected to arrive on Friday together with her coach, Tim Rowberry, but her arrival was delayed because she could not get a PCR coronavirus test in time.
The 28-year-old Hassan will be having her pre-season training camp at altitude in Namibia.
“I'm guessing she must have gotten some feedback from other Dutch cyclists, triathletes and Paralympian cyclists and hand-bike riders who had achieved some success after training in Namibia in the previous years,” said a local sports reporter, Andrew Poolman.
In Tokyo last year, Hassan became the first athlete to win medals in three distances at a single Olympic Games (5 000 m and 10 000 m gold), even recovering from a fall in her 1 500 m heat to go on to make the final and win bronze.
