Hangana Hake Run & Ride called off
NAMPA
Hangana Seafood has announced the cancellation of its Hangana Hake Run & Ride event that was scheduled to take place on 3 October in Walvis Bay.
A media statement issued by Hangana Seafood on Monday stated that the cancellation was in light of the recent spike in Covid-19 cases recorded at Walvis Bay.
Company managing director Herman Theron said it was the first time since its beginning in 1983 that the event would not be taking place.
“Our biggest priority remains the health and safety of our participants, the protection of our staff, volunteers, suppliers and the broader coastal community. The recent rapid increase in Covid-19 cases in our town has left us with no choice but to call off the event,” Theron said.
