Haitope said she is fit and without injuries, and is ready to take on anyone in the 10km race, as she gears up to compete in the African Cross Country Championships in Lome, Togo on 8 April, if she is selected for the national trials.
Tomorrow's competition will be held at the Okahandja Horse Racing Turf. Athletes from across all 14 regions will participate, with some primary school juniors participating in the 2km event. Their event will start at 10:00.
Soon after the under-18 women's 4km event will start, with the u-18 men competing in a 6km race.
The u-20 women will also take part in a 6km race that will kick off at 08:30, while their male counterparts will compete in a 8km race soon after.
Race director Berthold Karumendu said the hot favourites for the men's 10km race will come from the police, the Namibian Correctional Service (NCS) and the Namibian Defence Force (NDF).
“There is confirmation in the men's 10km race (that there will be runners). Usually when they turn up there are always big guns in the race, so people should really turn up to see them run,” Karumendu added.
