The rape of a three-year-old girl by her 49-year-old uncle at Mariental is among the latest sexual attacks on children that are continuing to escalate across the country.

According to the police, after the suspect slept in the same bed with the victim and another minor, the mother noticed that the three-year-old was walking abnormally the next day.

On closer inspection, she observed abnormalities on the girl’s genitals and took her daughter to hospital, where the rape was confirmed. The suspect was arrested.

Plied with wine

At Rehoboth, a 14-year-old girl was raped by a 27-year-old man on Saturday after the suspect invited her into his home to drink wine. After she became intoxicated, he raped her.

In a separate incident at Outjo in the Saamstaan location, a man whose age is not known, attempted to rape an eight-year-old boy.

It is alleged the suspect found the boy in his house and told him he would rape him. The boy ran away, but the man chased him, grabbed him by the throat, threw him to the ground and pulled his pants down. The boy screamed for help and a woman came to his rescue by hitting the man with stones. The man was seriously injured and taken to the Outjo State Hospital for treatment. He was later transferred to Windhoek.

The boy was taken for a medical examination and it was confirmed that no penetration had taken place.

Attempted toilet rape

In another incident at Katutura, a 35-year-old man attempted to rape a 12-year-old girl inside a toilet. The girl’s mother observed the incident and alerted the police. The suspect has been arrested.

Meanwhile, on Friday a 32-year-old security guard was arrested for assaulting and raping a female colleague at Superior Security Services.

The victim was hit over the head with an iron object, wrestled to the ground and raped. The suspect has been arrested.

Man stabbed to death

In another incident at Rehoboth on Sunday, a 42-year-old woman stabbed her 32-year-old boyfriend to death after an argument.

It is alleged that the two were drinking when an argument erupted.

They went home and the argument continued, which led to the woman stabbing her boyfriend, Goliath Shikongo, twice in the right side of his chest. The suspect has been arrested.

‘Panga Group’ arrested

Meanwhile, seven suspects who belong to the self-proclaimed ‘Panga Group’ were arrested on Friday in Windhoek.

According to the police, these criminals rob people while armed with machetes.

A silver Honda Fit, which was used in the robberies that have terrorised residents of Windhoek North, was impounded.

The suspects are linked to at least nine armed robbery cases in the capital.
